On May 5th to 6th, 2007, within the confines of the Wilderness Battlefield, part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, living historians presented a snapshot of the average Federal soldier engaged in The Battle of Wilderness, May 5th and May 6th, 1864.  Through the use of several programs and vignettes, located throughout the Wilderness Battlefield site, both the public and living history participant, gained an understanding of what soldiers from the North endured during this engagement.  This weekend program began on Saturday morning, May 5th, and concluded on Sunday afternoon, May 6th.  Ironically, this event was held on the EXACT dates of the original battle 143 years ago.  This event was for one thing and one thing only:  To honor those men, North and South, who fought at this engagement.

On Sunday they toured the Saunders field which marked the ground where Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant's Army  collided with Lee's battle  hardened veterans.
